What Happens When Horses Get Their Teeth Floated: Dental Day at Starr Horse Retreats

Dental day at Starr Horse Retreats. Our older horses had their teeth floated, which helps prevent sharp points from cutting the inside of their mouths. This requires sedation, and while they are sedated we also take care of deworming.
The younger horses received their immunizations and stayed nearby, watching closely as their herd leaders were in the barn.
When the older horses came back out, the energy shifted instantly. The younger ones ran, played, and released the tension they had been holding. Even the more hesitant ones joined in.
Moments like this show how deeply connected a herd really is.
All veterinary care is now complete, and everyone is back out together.
