Our Sacred Approach
At Starr Horse Retreats, we believe healing begins with reverence, for the Earth, for the horses, and for the many wisdom traditions that have helped shape this work.
We honor the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded the lands where we gather, and we are committed to walking with humility, gratitude, and right relationship.
The Temazcal (sweat lodge) we offer is held in the Mayan tradition, into which I was initiated through years of direct ceremonial experience and mentorship. We offer this ceremony in reverence for the Earth, for lineage, and for healing.
We do not claim ownership of the traditions we engage with. Instead, we honor their origins, protect their integrity, and acknowledge their sacred roots. We also believe that every human being carries a birthright to ceremony, a remembrance that transcends borders, culture, and colonization.
Alongside the Temazcal, we share other practices that have been learned through years of study, mentorship, and lived experience, including the tipi, which honors my husband Ric’s Mojave lineage, and my own path of reclaiming ceremony in service to Gaia and humanity.

Our horses are sovereign beings and healers, never tools or performers. They are honored as willing partners and co-facilitators in every experience.

A Personal Reflection
“I hold deep reverence for the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded the lands where we gather. I recognize that many of these lands were taken without consent, and I consider it a sacred responsibility to acknowledge that history while also doing the inner work of reclaiming my own connection to Earth, ceremony, and Spirit.
My own remembrance arises from my starseed lineage, and the work we do serves as a bridge between ancient Earth wisdom and cosmic intelligence. It is not meant to replicate any one tradition, but to reclaim our place as sacred humans living in harmony with Gaia and the elemental forces.
Our work blends many lineages, including Earth-based spirituality, intergalactic remembrance, and personal soul retrieval. I do not claim to represent traditions that are not my own. When I use words such as shaman, sweat lodge, or tipi, I do so to describe archetypal tools of transformation found across many cultures, while remaining committed to honoring the unique histories, teachings, and sovereignty of the peoples from whom these traditions originate.”
