Halo’s First Barn Time with the herd. At Starr Horse Retreats, Barn Time is when the herd comes into their individual stalls for a half hour to eat without competition, and when our older horses receive their senior feed. It also gives me a chance to check on everyone. When the doors open, the horses come and go freely. Interestingly, they choose the stars, moon, wind, snow, trees, and open sky rather than staying in the barn. Horses are elemental beings, constantly anchoring energy through their hooves into the Earth. Across our 30 acres, they can access several shelters whenever needed, including the 10-stall horse barn, but the herd prefers to live in the pastures.
